Fresh Wedding Trends in 2021 | Melinda Anita Photography, Hudson Valley Wedding Photographer
With years passing and the time evolving, if there’s one thing that has been moving rapidly along with trends and fashion; it’s weddings. Although, last year, when the world turned around due to the Covid-19 pandemic, trends we couldn’t have even imagined came into existence. Filled with bold colors, old school elements and sentimental décor, one thing we know for sure is that 2021 weddings will be celebrations of not just love, but of reunion as recovery as well. So, without any further ado, let’s go ahead and see what’s in store for this year’s weddings!
1. Bright and bold colors
Bid farewell to the days of blush and ivory, because now bold color palates and warmer tones are on their way to be a huge hit in the future. Bored of the classic white tones, people are starting to experiment and see just how far they can go. Expect 2021 weddings to be full of bright and happy color clashing, print mixing and statement hues that weddings have never seen before.
2. Microweddings
With the pandemic going on and Zoom weddings becoming the new normal, people slowly started leaning towards small, private ceremonies with no more than 50 people as they realized big, lavish weddings don’t always have to be necessary. Micro weddings are also becoming more popular because they allow the bride and groom to spend more quality time with each other, allowing the day to feel more personal and special.
3. Mini cakes
Cakes are undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of a wedding. Gigantic, intricately decorated cakes have been a classic for decades, but recently, couples have been interested in a more simple, minimalistic approach: mini cakes. Long gone are the days where only large cakes make an impact. Nowadays, even a small, unique cake can have a major wow factor.
4. Backyard wedding
We all agree that heart is where home is. There’s always something soothing and comforting about an at-home wedding with your family and the people you love, especially after a pandemic. This year, we’re seeing dozens of couples take advantage of the fresh air and open space of their own house and embrace it by hosting a small, intimate celebration.
5. Statement lights and tents
It’s no doubt that fairy lights are the easiest way to set the mood for a romantic and intimate evening, so naturally, they’re a hit amongst weddings as well. Paired with vintage tents, they give the utmost magical and whimsical vibes to the venue. 2021 weddings will include all sorts of dreamy statement lighting such as exposed bulbs, string lights, chandeliers, and of course, the classic fairy lights.
6. Acoustic performances
Who doesn’t love some calming, acoustic lounge music? Planners are now referring to café style music as the new wedding playlist. With an uptick in acoustic performances, slow dance tributes and bistro style music, “coffee hour music” is rapidly becoming one of the most demanded wedding necessities.
7. Brunch weddings
Brunch weddings are a hot trend in 2021. As more and more outdoor weddings are being hosted, young couples are taking advantage of natural light and sun-kissed gardens, including lush wedding parties. Brunch weddings allow the guests to be more at ease and carefree, hence creating an uplifting aura all around and letting them treat it as a fun party meant to be enjoyed by everyone.
